Diane Parry and Loïs Boisson advance to Cincinnati third round

French players Diane Parry and Loïs Boisson will face each other in the third round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati.

Diane Parry secured her place in the third round after a comeback victory against Elise Mertens. After losing the first set 2-6, Parry won the following two sets 6-2, 6-2 in a match lasting 2 hours and 18 minutes.

Loïs Boisson advances to the third round following the withdrawal of Belinda Bencic. Bencic retired after the first set due to left knee discomfort, opting not to risk injury ahead of the US Open. This marks the first time in her career that Boisson has reached the third round of a WTA 1000 event.

In other action, third seed Jessica Pegula advanced to the third round after defeating Simona Waltert 6-3, 6-2. She is scheduled to face Emma Navarro.
