Dick Guttman, veteran Hollywood publicist, dies at 93

Veteran Hollywood publicist Dick Guttman has died at the age of 93. According to his company, Guttman Associates Public Relations, he passed away on a Saturday in Los Altos, California.

Over a career spanning more than 70 years, Guttman represented a vast array of iconic figures, including Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman, Barbra Streisand, Clint Eastwood, and Warren Beatty. He also worked with notable figures such as Buzz Aldrin and Janet Jackson. His promotional work extended to major films like ‘Bonnie and Clyde’, ‘Dirty Harry’, and ‘The King’s Speech’.

In addition to his publicity career, Guttman was a screenwriter with credits including the 1963 film ‘Back Door to Hell’. He also authored the 2015 autobiography ‘Starflacker’.

Guttman and his wife, Gisela, were longtime residents of Malibu before moving to Los Altos last year to be closer to family following the Palisades Fire. The Entertainment Industry Foundation has established a memorial fund in his name to honor his decades of philanthropic support for the creative community.
