Dick Van Dyke faces fan push for Oscar at age 100

Actor Dick Van Dyke, who recently turned 100, was recently seen on a quiet outing in Los Angeles with his wife, Arlene Silver. During the appearance, Van Dyke used a walker for mobility.

Fans and industry figures are calling for Van Dyke to be awarded an Oscar to complete his EGOT status (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony). Despite his extensive career and numerous awards, including four Emmys, one Grammy, and one Tony, he has never received an Academy Award nomination. At a recent fundraiser for a future Dick Van Dyke museum, film historian Stu Shostak stated, “If anybody deserves an Academy Award it’s Dick Van Dyke.”

Van Dyke continues to perform, recently singing with the a cappella group The Vantastix. He has credited his wife, Silver, with helping him maintain a youthful outlook, stating, “She keeps me in shape, feeds me, and I love her more everyday.”
