Dicle University architecture students explore Diyarbakır heritage
First-year architecture students from Dicle University participated in a traditional orientation field trip to explore the historical and architectural heritage of Diyarbakır. The excursion, held on October 12, 2026, aimed to provide students with a practical understanding of how architecture connects to history and culture.
Guided by faculty members, including Lecturer Aysel Yılmaz and Dr. Meltem Erbaş Özil, students examined structures that shape the city's identity. The program focused on the physical characteristics of historical buildings, their relationship to the urban fabric, and their cultural significance.
Prof. Dr. Fatma Demet Aykal, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, noted that these annual trips are designed to help students develop skills in interpreting the architectural environment. The initiative also seeks to foster awareness regarding the preservation of cultural heritage for future generations.
