Dicle University reopens renovated Olympic swimming pool facilities
Dicle University has officially reopened its Havuz Başı Social Facilities following extensive maintenance and renovation work. The Olympic Open Swimming Pool, which has served students, academic staff, and administrative personnel for approximately 35 years, had undergone physical deterioration over time, necessitating these upgrades.
Coordinated by the Department of Construction and Technical Affairs, the renovation included the renewal of the pool’s mechanical and lighting systems, as well as landscaping improvements. Notably, approximately 1,700 square meters of natural travertine stone from Afyon was used in the environmental arrangements.
A ceremony was held to mark the reopening, attended by Diyarbakır Governor Murat Zorluoğlu, University Rector Prof. Dr. Kamuran Eronat, and various local officials and military commanders. Rector Eronat emphasized that the university aims to support healthy living habits and increase sports opportunities to strengthen the social life of the campus.
