Dominican Republic police report multiple fatal shootouts with suspects

The Dominican Republic National Police reported several fatal shootouts involving suspects and law enforcement across multiple regions.

In San Pedro de Macorís, Jorge Luis Tissol Báez, known as “Yiro,” a member of the “Los Fantasmas” criminal group, died after a shootout during a search operation in Consuelo. In Santiago, 19-year-old Cristofer Almonte Díaz, alias “Niño,” was killed during an encounter while being sought for an aggravated homicide. His death reportedly led to a protest by relatives at the Santiago forensic institute.

In Sánchez Ramírez, a Haitian national, Hilairen Jean-Lin, died following an exchange of gunfire with police in Cevicos. Additionally, in Sabana Perdida, authorities are searching for “Hansel Boca Negra,” who is accused of wounding two police officers, including a major, during a pursuit.

In Verón-Punta Cana, Luis David Fortuna Perdomo, alias “Caco de Leche,” died after a confrontation with DICRIM agents. He was a suspect in the death of a one-year-old girl during a previous shooting incident in the Cristinita sector.

Following these events, the Director of the National Police, Major General Ernesto Rafael Rodríguez García, issued a warning to criminals, stating that authorities will respond to those who act against the law.
