Dáiddadállu Sámi artist network wins Munch Award

The Sámi artist network Dáiddadállu has been awarded the 2024 Munch Award, which recognizes artistic freedom of expression. The collective will receive NOK 300,000.

Established in 2014 by filmmaker and choreographer Elle Sofe Sara and artist Máret Ánne Sara, Dáiddadállu is an interdisciplinary network of 22 artist partners. The group's work spans theater, music, visual arts, and joik, a traditional form of Sámi singing. The network aims to integrate Indigenous knowledge, culture, and perspectives into the contemporary art world.

The jury highlighted the collective's significant work in supporting Indigenous artists. The award is presented annually by the Munch Museum in Oslo.
