Didi Kombs' Prison Term Shortened, Release Set for Jan 24 2028

Rapper Šon Didi Kombs, 56, has had his federal prison sentence again reduced, with the Federal Bureau of Prisons now listing his release date as 24 January 2028. Kombs was originally scheduled to be released on 8 May 2028, but the date was moved several times after alleged infractions, including alleged alcohol consumption and an unauthorized phone call while incarcerated at the Fort Dix federal prison in New Jersey.

The most recent change follows a reported altercation at Fort Dix in which Kombs was said to have attacked another inmate after a verbal dispute, leading to a brief fight and his placement in solitary confinement. Prison officials declined to confirm the incident. Kombs had previously been cleared of the most serious charges of human trafficking and racketeering in July, but was convicted of organizing prostitution. The latest release date adjustment cites the 2018 FIRST STEP Act, a criminal‑justice reform enacted during the Trump administration that allows earlier releases for many inmates. The Bureau declined to explain the latest date shift, citing privacy and security concerns.
