DiDi shareholders overwhelmingly support Hong Kong relisting
A survey conducted by Heng Ren Partners LLC reveals that at least 99.3% of DiDi Global Inc. shareholders support relisting the company’s shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The move aims to address the depressed value of shares currently trading over-the-counter (OTC) in the United States following their 2022 delisting from the New York Stock Exchange.
Shareholders expressed a desire for increased corporate transparency and governance. Key demands include holding the first shareholder meeting in four years, opening quarterly earnings calls, and appointing independent directors to the board.
DiDi shares have seen a significant decline, trading near $3.00, which represents a 79% drop from the 2021 IPO price of $14.00. Investors noted that the current OTC status disqualifies the stock from major indexes and discourages institutional investment.
