Didim Municipality Expands Traditional Tile Painting Courses for All Ages

Didim Municipality in Turkey continues its Çini (tile) Painting Course, offering weekly practical workshops on Monday mornings and afternoons. The program welcomes participants from age 13 up to over 70, with classes divided into two groups each week.

The curriculum covers design transfer, painting, glazing and firing, allowing each enrollee to produce one to two tiled pieces weekly. Municipal mayor Hatice Gençay emphasizes that the courses are more than a hobby, describing them as a means to preserve and transmit the region’s cultural heritage to future generations.
