Didim Olive Festival begins in Aydın with Guinness World Record attempt
The 8th Didim Olive Festival has commenced in the Didim district of Aydın, Turkey. Organized by the Didim Chamber of Agriculture in collaboration with the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality, the Didim Chamber of Commerce, and the Zeytindostu Association, the event features a variety of cultural and culinary activities.
The festival began with a parade from the old courthouse to the area of the Temple of Apollo, accompanied by a municipal band and participants in traditional attire. A central highlight of the event is a Guinness World Record attempt scheduled for October 9, aiming to host the ‘World’s Largest Olive Oil Tasting at More Than One Location’ simultaneously across four sites: the Temple of Apollo, Didim City Square, Altinkum Yalı Street, and Akbuk Harbor.
In addition to the record attempt, the program includes workshops, gastronomy talks, folk dance performances, and traditional food tastings. The festival is scheduled to run through October 11.
