Didim, Turkey Secures First Thermal Water Source After Five-Year Effort

Geology engineer Halit Temiz spent five years researching a thermal water source in the Fevzipaşa neighbourhood of Didim, a district of Aydın Province. In 2026 a 750‑metre well was drilled, producing water at a flow of about 50 litres per second. The Turkish Health Ministry’s Public Health Directorate certified the water as suitable for medical and spa use.

Temiz plans to use the discovery to diversify Didim’s tourism, extending the season from a summer‑only model to a year‑round health‑and‑spa destination. He intends to share the water with local businesses and develop his own thermal facility, expecting the project to boost the local economy, create jobs, and reduce the area’s reliance on beach tourism.
