Die Toten Hosen fans hit with cease‑and‑desist letters over illegal ticket resale

Hundreds of fans of the German punk band Die Toten Hosen have been served with more than 1,000 cease‑and‑desist notices since 2022. The letters, sent by the law firm LDM on behalf of the band’s ticketing partner "kauf mich GmbH," demand that fans stop reselling concert tickets on unauthorized platforms such as Viagogo or eBay Kleinanzeigen and sign a declaration to cease the activity.

The band’s terms of service allow resale only through the authorized portal TicketSwap; violations can trigger contractual penalties of up to €2,500. The "Trink aus, wir müssen gehen" tour is sold out through summer 2027, and the band has warned that automated bots are buying large ticket blocks for resale, exacerbating the problem.

Fans who ignore the notice risk the fine and possible legal action, while the band seeks to protect ticket availability for genuine attendees.
