Die Toten Hosen mourn Cheetah Chrome and confirm 2027 festival headlining

The German punk band Die Toten Hosen is mourning the death of Eugene Richard O'Connor, known professionally as Cheetah Chrome. The American musician, a guitarist for the band Dead Boys and a foundational figure in the early US punk scene, passed away on Sunday, September 13, at the age of 71.

Die Toten Hosen expressed their respect on Facebook, noting that Chrome’s music helped inspire the band to form. The group had a long-standing relationship with the musician, dating back to 1990 when frontman Campino traveled to New York to record the album ‘Learning English Lesson One’. They most recently collaborated in 2017 for the album ‘Laune der Natur’.

In other news, Die Toten Hosen have been confirmed as headliners for the 2027 Rock im Park and Rock am Ring festivals. This marks the band's tenth appearance at the festivals. They will perform alongside other headliners including Blink-182 and Bring Me The Horizon.
