Diego Biagi wins Laura Pasqualetti accompaniment pianist competition

Diego Biagi, a student at the Pietro Mascagni Conservatory in Livorno, has won the fourth edition of the ‘Laura Pasqualetti’ accompaniment pianist competition. The event was organized by the Mascagni Festival in memory of the Livornese pianist and teacher.

After passing an online video pre-selection, Biagi competed against seven finalists in a final held at the Goldonetta. During the performance, he accompanied sopranos Claire Nesti and Lili Nogueras in a program featuring works by Mascagni, Puccini, Giordano, Leoncavallo, and Cilea.

As the winner, Biagi has been awarded a professional contract as an accompanist pianist for the Teatro Goldoni for the 2026-2027 season. The competition also served a charitable purpose, with proceeds donated to the Associazione Cure Palliative di Livorno.
