Diego Castro faces investigation after UFBA confrontation
State Deputy Diego Castro (PL) was involved in a violent confrontation at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) Faculty of Communication (Facom) in Salvador. The incident occurred when Castro and his security team entered the campus to remove political stickers supporting President Lula and Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues.
The university reported acts of violence, intimidation, and disrespect, noting that the confrontation disrupted a freshman reception event. Tobias Muniz, president of the Facom Academic Center, was reportedly pushed by a member of the deputy's security team and sustained injuries. Additionally, the director of the faculty, Washington Souza Filho, reported being threatened and disrespected during the incident.
Following the event, the Bahia Legislative Assembly (Alba) received formal requests to investigate a potential breach of parliamentary decorum. Deputy Hilton Coelho (PSOL) has filed a request with the Ethics Council seeking the revocation of Castro's mandate. UFBA has filed police reports and is seeking to establish a cooperation protocol with the Federal Police to enhance security during the electoral period.
