Diego Demme announces retirement from professional football

German-Italian footballer Diego Demme has announced his retirement from professional football. The 34-year-old shared an emotional message on Instagram, reflecting on a career that fulfilled his childhood dream of playing in major stadiums.

Demme's professional journey included stints at Arminia Bielefeld, SC Paderborn, RB Leipzig, SSC Napoli, and most recently, Hertha BSC. He also earned a call-up to the German national team in 2017 for the Confederations Cup under Joachim Löw, though back problems prevented him from participating in the tournament in Russia.

In his farewell, Demme described football as more than just a profession, calling it his life and passion. He expressed gratitude to his family, coaches, and those who were part of his journey.
