Diego Dirisio extradited to Brazil for international arms trafficking
Diego Hernán Dirisio, a Brazilian businessman accused of being a major international arms trafficker, has been extradited from Argentina to Brazil. Dirisio was arrested in Córdoba, Argentina, in February 2024 following an Interpol Red Notice issued by Brazilian authorities.
Investigations, including ‘Operation Dakovo’, allege that Dirisio and his partner, Julieta Nardi, led a criminal organization that imported approximately $230 million worth of weaponry from countries including Croatia, Turkey, the Czech Republic, and Slovenia. The scheme involved importing arms legally into Paraguay and subsequently diverting them illegally into Brazil, often with serial numbers removed.
The diverted weapons were reportedly destined for major Brazilian criminal organizations, such as the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and Comando Vermelho. The extradition was finalized following a confirmation by Argentina's Supreme Court of Justice and was carried out under heavy security by the Argentine Federal Police.
