Independiente dismisses coach Gustavo Quinteros after Copa Argentina exit

Independiente has dismissed head coach Gustavo Quinteros following a 4-0 defeat against Atlético Tucumán, which resulted in the club's elimination from the Copa Argentina. The decision follows a period of sporting crisis and tension between the coaching staff and the board regarding player reinforcements.

While the club searches for a permanent successor, Hugo Tocalli is overseeing training sessions, with plans for Carlos Matheu and Eduardo Tuzzio to take over interim duties. The club's board is currently evaluating several candidates, including Omar De Felippe, Rubén Darío Insua, and Ricardo Gareca.

In addition to the coaching change, the club has reached a verbal agreement to sign defender Franco Calderón from Universidad Católica on a loan deal with a $2 million purchase option to bolster a depleted defensive line.
