Diego Gómez leads Brighton to 3-0 victory over Arsenal

Diego Gómez played a pivotal role in Brighton & Hove Albion’s 3-0 victory over Arsenal. Under the direction of manager Fabian Hürzeler, the Paraguayan attacking midfielder was tactically repurposed to play as a winger to compensate for injuries to Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh.

Gómez’s performance was characterized by high-intensity duels and defensive contribution, specifically against Riccardo Calafiori. Reports indicate he frequently won aerial duels to help Brighton advance up the pitch. This tactical shift contributed to Brighton recovering the ball nine times in the final third, a statistic matching the highest recorded against Arsenal by a Premier League team since December 2023.
