Diego González Rivas Named Cabaleiro of Albariño Order in Cambados

A traditional ceremony was held on the first Sunday of August in Cambados, Spain, marking the 57th anniversary of the Capítulo Serenísimo del Albariño. The event, presided over by Alfonso Rueda, president of the Xunta, honored five new members who will serve as ambassadors of the Galician Albariño wine.

The inductees are surgeon Diego González Rivas, recognized for pioneering minimally invasive techniques; Chinese ambassador Yao Jing; Ribadumia mayor and Salnés community president David Castro; Xunta conselleira María Martínez Aller; and Marian Mouriño, president of Real Club Celta de Vigo. Each received a ceremonial cape and medallion and pledged to defend and promote Albariño worldwide.

The ceremony underscores the cultural importance of Albariño as a symbol of Galician identity and heritage.
