Diego Lainez seeks return to Mexican national team

Diego Lainez, the 26-year-old Tigres UANL player, stated that returning to the Mexican national team remains his top priority. Speaking during a visit by Rafael Márquez to his team's training session, Lainez expressed his desire to catch the attention of the national team leadership.

Lainez, once regarded as a rising star in Mexican football, missed both the Qatar 2022 World Cup and the most recent tournament despite being in good form. He noted that while playing in a World Cup is a goal, he does not let the previous omissions cause him frustration. He credited his time at Tigres with helping him mature into a more complete player following his experiences in Europe with Real Betis and Sporting Braga.
