Defense attorneys revealed that several kidney test results presented to the court actually belonged to Maradona's father, Diego Salustiano Maradona, who passed away in 2015.

Because the disputed documents date back to 2015—a period when the footballer was primarily living in Dubai—the defense argues they cannot be used to assess his health during his final days in 2020. This revelation threatens the validity of the medical commission's findings, which are central to the prosecution's case that the healthcare provided to Maradona was inadequate.

In response, the court has ordered the seizure of original medical records from Swiss Medical and the Los Arcos clinic to verify the authenticity of the documentation. A criminal investigation has also been opened to determine how the incorrect records were incorporated into the case. The proceedings are currently on hold until August 27 to allow for this verification.

Seven healthcare professionals, including doctors and caregivers, face charges of criminal negligence. This is the second attempt to hold the trial, as the previous proceedings were annulled after a judge was found to have participated in an unauthorized documentary about the case.
