Diego Marín Buitrago sues Colombian authorities over extradition
Diego Marín Buitrago, known as ‘Papá Pitufo’, has filed a lawsuit against the Colombian Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Justice, the Foreign Ministry, and the Judicial Branch. He is seeking compensation of 400 minimum wages, alleging psychological damage to himself, his wife, and his three children resulting from his extradition process.
Marín claims judicial irregularities regarding his arrest warrants. He argues that a single judicial order was used twice to detain him—once in Spain in April 2024 and again in Portugal in December 2024—despite a Spanish court granting him provisional liberty. He asserts that the Colombian arrest warrant should have been canceled following the Spanish court's decision. Marín has also characterized himself as a ‘political persecuted’ individual.
