Diego Mascarenhas elected president of Boi Caprichoso

Diego Mascarenhas has been elected president of the Boi Caprichoso cultural association for the 2027-2029 term. Running with Edwan Oliveira as vice president under the slate ‘Caprichoso Unido, Forte e Vencedor’, the duo secured 2,079 votes from members.

The election, which saw more than 5,800 members exercise their voting rights for the first time in a decade, took place in both Manaus and Parintins. Mascarenhas, an engineer and current vice president of the group, aims to focus on the modernization of the Curral Zeca Xibelão and the revitalization of the Caprichoso Club, seeking to transform the arena into a year-round venue for events.

They defeated the opposing slate, ‘Renovação e Tradição’, led by lawyer Márcio Azêdo and retired judge Afrânio Gonçalves.
