Diego Mascarenhas launches bid for presidency of Brazil's Boi Caprichoso association

On Thursday, 30 May, Diego Mascarenhas officially filed his candidacy for president of the Associação Cultural Boi‑Bumbá Caprichoso, with the election set for 13 September. He heads the "Amor Caprichoso" ticket, naming visual artist and arena director Edwan Oliveira as vice‑presidential candidate. The campaign slogan, "Caprichoso: unido, forte e vencedor," promises to strengthen the association, value its artists and members, unite the "Nação Azul e Branca," and pursue more titles.

Oliveira could not attend the filing ceremony because he was in Juruti participating in the Festribal dos Povos Originários, but reaffirmed his partnership by phone. Mascarenhas highlighted his administrative experience, while Oliveira brought extensive artistic and arena‑management background. Their combined résumé includes Mascarenhas' long‑standing family ties to the organization and Oliveira's recent role as director of artistic arena and council member.
