Diego Milito takes responsibility for Racing Club's sporting crisis

Diego Milito, president of Racing Club, has issued a self-criticism regarding the club’s current sporting crisis. Racing is currently struggling in the Torneo Apertura, sitting near the bottom of the annual table, and faces a critical upcoming Copa Argentina quarter-final against Boca Juniors.

Milito took full responsibility for the situation, specifically admitting that renewing coach Gustavo Costas’s contract for three years was an error. He noted that while the club believed Costas was essential to maintain momentum following recent successes, the decision failed to account for the coach's eventual departure to Cerro Porteño.

Despite the poor results on the pitch, Milito defended his administration by stating that his campaign promises focused on institutional and infrastructural improvements. He highlighted the acquisition of a school and the upcoming inauguration of a high-performance center in Ezeiza as evidence of progress. He expressed confidence in the squad, noting that Racing maintains one of the highest player market values in Argentina.
