Diego Moreira faces scrutiny after Belgium loss to France

Diego Moreira, the AC Milan winger, recently started for the Belgian national team in a Nations League match against France, which ended in a 0-1 defeat following a late goal by Michael Olise. While Moreira demonstrated significant physical effort and ball progression, covering 149.4 meters while dribbling, his offensive impact was limited, recording only one shot attempt and a low expected goal (xG) value of 0.02.

Following the performance, former Belgian footballer Marc Degryse commented on Moreira’s role at AC Milan. Degryse noted that despite a difficult start to the season, Moreira has shown improvement, including scoring three goals in recent matches against Lazio and Lecce. Degryse argued that given Moreira’s high transfer valuation, which reached approximately 55 to 60 million euros, the club should provide him with a consistent starting position and clear tactical direction to ensure his success.
