Diego Pérez murder case moved to trial in Villa Carlos Paz, Argentina
Nine months after the death of 25‑year‑old Diego Pérez, his family complained that the criminal file remained stalled because the Control judge overseeing the case was on sick leave and had not been replaced. The mother, Margarita, said the judge’s absence left the case without a decision on whether to elevate it to trial.
The Control Court later confirmed that sufficient evidence existed to send the case to oral trial. Police officer Fernando Reynoso, 24, is accused of homicide with eventual dolo for the October 18 2025 collision on Avenida San Martín in Villa Carlos Paz that killed Pérez. The prosecution’s request to elevate the case was granted, and the next step will be the random assignment of a Chamber to conduct the trial and set a hearing date.
