Diego Sanchez arrested in New Mexico for DWI and probation violation

Former UFC fighter Diego Sanchez was arrested in Socorro, New Mexico, on Monday. According to jail records, the 44-year-old faces charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated and probation violation.

Sanchez was being held at the Socorro County Jail following the arrest. The aggravated DWI charge is significant because Sanchez was already serving five years of supervised probation stemming from a July 2025 incident involving a firearm. As part of that previous sentence, he was required to avoid alcohol.

In the July 2025 case, Sanchez pleaded guilty to a felony charge after firing a gun into the air from a vehicle near a crash scene in Albuquerque. While prosecutors had sought a two-year prison sentence, he was instead granted five years of supervised probation. Sanchez previously stated he was seeking treatment for mental health and substance abuse issues.
