Argentina's Diego Santilli meets governors to secure 2027 Budget support

Argentina's Chief of Cabinet, Diego Santilli, is conducting a series of meetings with provincial governors to secure legislative support for the 2027 Budget and proposed electoral reforms, including the potential elimination of PASO primary elections. The 2027 Budget project anticipates an annual accumulated inflation rate of 18%.

In Tierra del Fuego, Governor Gustavo Melella met with Santilli to discuss regional priorities such as sovereignty, the Antarctic Logistics Pole, and the Ushuaia Port. Meanwhile, in the northern regions, governors including Raúl Jaldo, Osvaldo Jaldo, and Gustavo Sáenz have raised concerns regarding infrastructure and energy costs, specifically requesting electrical compensation for high-temperature zones.

In the education sector, the National Interuniversity Council (CIN) has presented a 2027 budget proposal of 11 trillion pesos, which is approximately 33% higher than the government's current projection. This follows failed salary negotiations where university unions rejected a 3% increase offer, leading to announcements of a 48-hour strike and a federal university march scheduled for October.

Additionally, the Senate passed the Inocencia Fiscal II law with 44 votes in favor, a measure designed to incentivize the formalization of foreign currency holdings through tax benefits and legal security.
