Diego Simeone praises Hansi Flick’s Barcelona performance

Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone has praised the performance of Hansi Flick’s FC Barcelona, describing their style of play as “barbaric” and suggesting they appear to play a different sport entirely.

Following a victory in the Madrid derby, Simeone noted that Barcelona currently demonstrates the highest level of football in La Liga. He highlighted the team's aggressive pressing and their willingness to take risks offensively. Simeone specifically pointed to the remarkable scoring output of players Raphinha, who has recorded twelve goals in seven matches, and Lamine Yamal, who has scored seven.

Barcelona has maintained a perfect start to the 2026/27 season, securing seven consecutive wins in La Liga and one in the Champions League. The club currently holds a five-point lead at the top of the league table.
