Diego Ulissi ends 16-year winning streak in first winless season

Professional cyclist Diego Ulissi has concluded his first season without a victory since turning professional. The 37-year-old Tuscan rider, who competes for XDS Astana, saw his record-breaking streak of winning at least one race per season—a run spanning sixteen consecutive years since 2010—end following the Veneto Classic.

Despite the lack of a win in the 2026 season, Ulissi achieved several podium finishes, including two third-place results in stages of the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali, one in the Giro d’Italia, and one in the Giro d’Abruzzo. Ulissi has renewed his contract with XDS Astana through 2027, a move supported by teammates such as Christian Scaroni, as he continues to serve as a mentor for younger riders on the team.
