Dienst Toeslagen notifies 225,000 households of potential 2025 benefits

The Dutch Tax and Benefits Administration (Dienst Toeslagen) has announced that 225,000 households will receive letters regarding potential eligibility for 2025 healthcare allowance (zorgtoeslag). Individuals are encouraged to check their eligibility via the official website, as even those who did not receive a letter may still be entitled to benefits. The deadline to apply for 2025 allowances has been extended to December 31, 2026.

Additionally, changes to the rent allowance (huurtoeslag) regulations in 2026 mean that high rent no longer automatically disqualifies a tenant from receiving benefits. While the allowance is calculated based on a maximum monthly rent of €932.93, paying more than this amount does not result in an automatic rejection. Applicants must still meet specific income, asset, and housing requirements to qualify.
