Diesel engine maintenance challenges and costs

Modern diesel engines face significant maintenance challenges compared to older models, particularly regarding emissions control systems. Short-distance driving in urban environments can prevent Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) from reaching the necessary temperatures for regeneration, leading to soot buildup, power loss, and expensive repairs.

The AdBlue system also presents reliability issues. The liquid is corrosive and can cause damage to components if not managed correctly. Additionally, the system is prone to failures in extreme cold, and malfunctions in the AdBlue pump or sensors can prevent the vehicle from starting, necessitating costly professional repairs.
