Diesel prices in North Macedonia rise to 104.50 denars per liter

Diesel prices in North Macedonia have risen to 104.50 denars per liter, following a decision by the Regulatory Commission for Energy (RKE) to increase the maximum retail price by 5.50 denars. This hike comes at a critical time for the agricultural sector, as farmers prepare for intensive autumn activities including soil preparation, sowing, and harvesting, all of which rely heavily on diesel-powered machinery.

While gasoline prices have decreased by 1.50 denars, the reduction offers little relief to the agricultural and transport sectors. The political party Levica has criticized the RKE, calling for a reduction in regulated warehouse fees and trade margins to mitigate the impact on citizens. Additionally, the party has proposed a 50% reduction in tolls for licensed freight and passenger carriers to prevent rising fuel costs from driving up the prices of food and essential goods.
