Diesel prices in Turkey drop following international supply interventions

Diesel prices in Turkey are experiencing significant downward movement following a series of reductions. A 2.22 TL per liter discount became effective on October 3, 2026, affecting major cities including Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir. Following this initial drop, industry sources anticipate a further substantial reduction of approximately 4.95 TL per liter on Tuesday, October 6.

This downward trend is attributed to declining metric ton prices for diesel in international markets and a strategic intervention by the G7 and the International Energy Agency (IEA). Under a plan coordinated by France, leaders including Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron agreed to release 100 million barrels of diesel and crude oil from strategic reserves to ease supply concerns.

While diesel prices are falling, gasoline and LPG prices are expected to remain stable for the time being. The fluctuations in the domestic market are driven by global Brent crude oil prices, which have been trading around the 102-103 dollar range, and shifts in exchange rates.
