Diesel spill occurs at Virši gas station in Riga

A diesel fuel leak occurred on Wednesday at the Virši gas station in the Sarkandaugava neighborhood of Riga due to a technical error during a fuel delivery.

The State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) responded to the call on Tvaika Street at approximately 12:00 PM. Upon arrival, firefighters cordoned off the area and used absorbent material to create a containment perimeter.

Representatives from the company, the VUGD, and the State Environmental Service worked to manage the situation. The company confirmed that the leak was promptly stopped and that cleanup and site restoration efforts were underway. The gas station remained open to customers during the incident.
