Dietary and lifestyle advice for supporting immunity in autumn

Experts recommend a diverse and balanced diet, along with sufficient sleep, as the foundation for maintaining a healthy immune system during the autumn season. While dietary supplements are common, immunologists note that a varied diet provides essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber naturally.

Medical professionals caution that excessive doses of certain vitamins can be harmful, though Vitamin D supplementation may be beneficial during months with limited sunlight. To support the body's first line of defense, such as the mucous membranes in the respiratory and digestive tracts, experts suggest consuming root vegetables like carrots. Because beta-carotene is fat-soluble, consuming carrots cooked with a small amount of oil or paired with nuts can improve absorption.

Rose hips are also highlighted as a potent natural source of Vitamin C and antioxidants. To preserve their nutritional value, rose hips should be collected from clean areas and dried at temperatures not exceeding 40 degrees Celsius to prevent the destruction of Vitamin C.
