Dietary factors and research findings on blood sugar regulation

Nutritionists and researchers are examining how specific foods and spices impact blood sugar levels. Regarding fruit consumption, specialists note that while pineapple contains natural sugars and carbohydrates that can cause a rise in blood glucose, it does not need to be avoided by those managing diabetes. The impact depends on portion sizes, the presence of other foods, and individual metabolic responses. A cup of fresh pineapple contains approximately 20 grams of carbohydrates.

In separate research, a small clinical study investigated the effects of Artemisia dracunculus (tarragon) on individuals with impaired glucose tolerance. Over a 90-day period, participants receiving a specific preparation of the plant showed changes in metabolic indicators, including reductions in glycated hemoglobin and systolic blood pressure, as well as an increase in HDL cholesterol. However, researchers caution that these results stem from a controlled supplement rather than culinary use, and the small study size means it cannot yet replace standard diabetes treatments.
