Dietary foods and beverages to support anti-inflammatory health

While turmeric is widely recognized for its anti-inflammatory properties, a variety of other foods and beverages can support the body in managing chronic inflammation through antioxidants, polyphenols, and healthy fatty acids.

Key dietary components include fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, and sardines, which are rich in EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids. According to Mariam Zakhary of the Ikon Recovery Center, these fatty acids can limit inflammatory signals and reduce pro-inflammatory cytokine levels. Other beneficial foods include berries, extra virgin olive oil, and leafy green vegetables.

Regarding beverages, proper hydration is essential to prevent systemic inflammation caused by dehydration. Specific drinks with scientifically backed benefits include green tea, which contains polyphenols, tart cherry juice, which contains anthocyanins that may reduce post-exercise muscle pain, and pomegranate juice, which is also high in polyphenols.
