Dietary habits and dandelion tea offer potential health benefits
Health experts suggest several morning habits and dietary choices to manage inflammation and support liver health.
Dandelion tea is noted for its anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antioxidant properties. It contains compounds like taraxasterol, which may help moderate immune responses and reduce inflammation. Nutritionist Su-Elen Anderson-Hajns suggests that one to three cups daily can be part of a balanced diet, though its diuretic effect means one cup may suffice for some. However, individuals taking blood thinners or digestive enzymes should consult a physician before regular consumption.
To support liver health and manage Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD), hepatologist Dr. Jennifer Lai recommends avoiding high-sugar breakfasts to prevent the liver from converting excess sugar into fat. Instead, breakfasts rich in fiber, protein, and healthy fats—such as oatmeal with berries or avocado toast—are advised. Additionally, light physical activity, such as a 15 to 30-minute walk after eating, can help regulate blood sugar levels. Consuming unsweetened coffee or green tea may also provide protective antioxidants for liver cells.
