Dietary habits and health benefits of specific foods and coffee

Clinical exercise physiologist Jill Edwards, Director of Training at the T. Colin Campbell Nutrition Studies Center, has identified several foods that may support male sexual health by improving blood circulation and providing antioxidants. Key foods include spinach, which is rich in magnesium to help reduce vascular inflammation, garlic, which contains allicin for cardiovascular health, and watermelon, which contains citrulline.

Additionally, research published in 2025 in The Journal of Nutrition suggests that consuming at least one caffeinated cup of coffee daily may be linked to a 16% lower risk of death from all causes and a 17% lower risk of cardiovascular disease death. Coffee may also support gut microbiome diversity through polyphenols and the bacteria Lawsonibacter asaccharolyticus.

A study published in PLOS ONE in 2025 also noted that men consuming one to two cups of coffee daily had a 42% lower risk of erectile dysfunction compared to non-consumers. Caffeine may also contribute to increased alertness and temporary testosterone increases.
