Dietary habits and lifestyle changes impact blood sugar and digestive health

Recent data from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency indicates a rise in high-fat and high-sugar food consumption among both men and women, alongside a decrease in physical activity such as aerobic exercise and walking. This shift in lifestyle is linked to a 47% increase in hypercholesterolemia prevalence over the last decade, raising risks for cardiovascular diseases like heart disease and stroke.

To manage blood sugar and weight, experts recommend specific eating patterns. Consuming sugary drinks or refined carbohydrates on an empty stomach can cause rapid blood sugar spikes and fat accumulation. A recommended approach is to eat vegetables first to utilize fiber, followed by proteins like eggs, tofu, or fish, and finishing with carbohydrates such as rice, noodles, or bread.

For digestive issues like enteritis, nutritionists suggest focusing on gentle, easy-to-digest foods to replenish electrolytes and energy. Recommended items include bananas for potassium and pectin, white rice for easy energy, and plain crackers or unsweetened apple puree. While ginger may help alleviate nausea, high-sugar beverages like ginger ale should be avoided. The primary goal during recovery is gradual reintroduction of nutrients while maintaining hydration.
