Dietary habits and the impact of breakfast and oats on weight management

Skipping breakfast is a common habit that can influence hunger levels, daily energy, and nutrient intake. While some individuals feel fine without a morning meal, others may experience fatigue, weakness, or difficulty concentrating. Research does not definitively prove that skipping breakfast automatically leads to overeating or weight gain for everyone, as it often depends on an individual's ability to recognize hunger and satiety signals.

Regarding weight management, oats are highlighted as a versatile food option. While commonly eaten for breakfast, consuming oats in the evening may help curb cravings for sweets or high-calorie snacks due to their fiber, protein, and complex carbohydrate content. Specifically, the soluble fiber beta-glucan promotes satiety. However, long-term weight loss remains primarily dependent on total energy intake and expenditure rather than the timing of carbohydrate consumption.
