Dieter Hallervorden criticizes AfD in political social media campaign

German actor and comedian Dieter Hallervorden has launched a series of political critiques against the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party via TikTok. In his videos, Hallervorden uses provocative language, describing his opposition to the party as a form of ‘pest control’ by simply not voting for them.

His commentary comes ahead of the state election in Sachsen-Anhalt on September 6, where recent polling suggests the AfD holds a significant lead at 43 percent compared to the CDU at 23 percent. Hallervorden has also shared quotes attributed to Helmut Schmidt regarding the necessity of compromise for democracy.

Beyond social media, Hallervorden has faced criticism for his appearances at CDU campaign events. During appearances with CDU's Sven Schulze, Hallervorden made controversial claims suggesting that leaders like Friedrich Merz and Boris Pistorius intended to make Germany ‘war-ready’ in a manner reminiscent of the pre-WWII era. Additionally, he has been noted for his vocal and controversial stances regarding the conflict in Israel.
