DIF Coahuila trains 1,800 people in mental health and addiction response

DIF Coahuila has trained more than 1,800 individuals in Psychological First Aid and the specialized NEXO Method to improve the detection and initial response to mental health crises and substance abuse. This initiative is part of the state-level strategy 'Vive Libre Sin Drogas' (Live Free Without Drugs), aimed at strengthening prevention and timely intervention regarding psychosocial risks.

The training program covered five regions of the state: Centro, Carbonífera, Norte, Sureste, and Laguna. Participants included a diverse group of professionals and public servants, such as police officers, public ministry agents, prosecution personnel, civil protection members, psychologists, teachers, and municipal employees.

Liliana Salinas Valdés, Honorary President of DIF Coahuila, stated that the professionalization of these responders is a fundamental tool to provide a closer response to vulnerable populations, ensuring that those seeking help can be correctly identified, listened to, and linked to specialized care.
