DIF Morelos announces new center for homeless population

The DIF Morelos system has announced plans to open a social assistance center for people experiencing homelessness by May 2027. To prepare for this initiative, authorities will conduct a comprehensive state census in November to diagnose the specific needs of this population.

Director General Eric Alquicira Cedillo stated that the data collection will focus on critical areas, including Cuernavaca, its metropolitan area, and other municipalities with high concentrations of vulnerable individuals. The project aims to move beyond isolated charitable efforts toward a permanent institutional policy with dedicated infrastructure for medical, social, and residential services. The center is expected to operate in the facilities currently used by CEAGEN in the El Vergel neighborhood.
