Ramos Arizpe implements mental health and security initiatives
The municipal government of Ramos Arizpe, led by Mayor Tomás Gutiérrez Merino, has reported a reduction of more than 50 percent in suicide rates compared to the previous year. This decline is attributed to doubling the number of psychological professionals available through the Municipal DIF.
To further expand access to mental health services, the city is launching a program in coordination with the Coahuila state government and Inspira Coahuila. This initiative involves placing QR codes in approximately 300 public transport units, including taxis and buses, as well as in official vehicles and schools. The codes will allow citizens, particularly women and youth in crisis, to connect discreetly with professionals to address issues such as depression and domestic violence.
In addition to mental health efforts, the administration has invested over 122 million pesos to strengthen public security. These funds support equipment, technology, and training, including the operation of the Command and Control Center (C2) and the acquisition of patrol vehicles, weaponry, and uniforms.
