DIF Coahuila provides cochlear implants to children with hearing disabilities
DIF Coahuila is implementing a collaborative strategy to support children and adolescents with hearing disabilities. Through the combined efforts of the state government, public institutions, the private sector, and medical specialists, the program provides access to specialized surgical procedures.
Liliana Salinas Valdés, honorary president of DIF Coahuila, reported that three cochlear implants were recently activated following surgeries performed in June. These procedures mark a significant milestone for patients and their families, initiating a phase of specialized follow-up and adaptation.
Funding for these initiatives was secured through various community efforts, including the ‘Juegos con Causa 2026’ held in Monclova, Torreón, and Saltillo, as well as a donation from the Santiago de la Monclova Rotary Club following the ‘Rotaria 5K 2026’ race. Two additional cochlear implant surgeries are scheduled to take place in Torreón on August 27.
